Elements of the Application

Overview of the process:

  1. First, you need access to the system.
    1. If you have a Blazer ID and password, you already have access. If you are working with us a joint provider and are part of another organization, we need to request access from UAB IT. Send us an email to let us know.
  2. Once there, you'll see a left navigation menu showing all major components of the application for which you must supply information:
    1. Activity Host
      1. Which UAB unit you work with or are partnering with; along with information on any external partners
    2. Activity Detail
      1. When and where the activity will occur; projected attendance; registration fee for the event (if any); and details on how the activity will be promoted (including a copy of any promotional material)
      2. When the activity will take place
    3. Content Development
      1. Identify your planning committee, acquire, and submit financial disclosure forms and conflict of interest resolution forms (if applicable) for committee members
      2. Tell us who identified activity speaker(s), and what criteria was used in selection
      3. Identify the target audience and describe how the content will be relevant to that audience's practice
    4. Needs Assessment
      1. We need you to document the educational need, or practice gap, on which the activity is based. This is a substantial topic, and we provide more detail in the unit on needs assessment.
    5. Learning Objectives
      1. When you identify learning objectives for your activity it helps determine the content that should be included,the design and structure of the activity, and the type of assessment (if needed) that you might use to evaluate your activity.

    6. Disclosure Compliance
      1. Anyone in control of content must disclose all financial relationships with commercial interests. There are a couple ways to do this, and we explore this further in the section detailing financial disclosure requirements.
    7. Funding
      1. The funding section will ask you to identify any commercial support, non-commercial support , and revenues generated from exhibitors.
    8. Payment
      1. The CME application fee can be paid by account number (internal); check and credit card payments are available for external partners.
