Process Flowcharts

What: A visual representation of the sequence of all steps in an entire process or segment of a process

Why: Helps us gain a quick understanding of a process and ensure that all aspects of a process are brought to light; useful in clarifying routines that serve patients or other HCPs

When: Helpful early stages of problem-solving to identify areas of potential improvement - bottlenecks, non-value-added process steps, inadequate/mis-allocated resources; useful for communicating process changes to team members
